This Systems does it all,
I purchased this a few months ago and installed it myself. It was very easy to install using the Cructhfield supplied cable that allows direct connection to the factory wiring harness. This system is top notch and will do everything you could ask for. First off it has the standard radio channels like AM and FM, but does anyone even listen to them anymore? So add the JVC SiriusConnect and you have satellite radio at its best. But still if thats not enough radio for you ,this thing has HD-Radio built in, so you can even listen to all your local favorite HD stations. But if that isn’t enough for your Radio listening pleasure how about streaming iHeartRadio or Pandora to this machine via bluetooth from your phone. Thats right you can stream iTunes, iHeartRadio, Pandora or even DSAudio from your Synology disk station at home. So how about the navigation feature? I’ve taken a few long hauls with this and I have to say that one of the neat features is once you plug in your destination a few states away, no matter how many times you stop or go looking for gas or food this thing will always bring you back to the route it planned for you, even after you turn the vehicle off, start it up and it picks up where you left off, Nice touch! Ohh and because this device has Total Traffic HD network built in you can set this navigation system to automatically alert and re-route you around congestion and accidents on the route. The maps and navigation system are the same as the leading GPS manufacturer uses and you pretty much won’t notice a difference if you were using one of those devices. I was on a wild goose chase looking for a historic landmark a few weeks ago but all i had was the gps coordinates, no problem, input them into the nav system and it will take you to the spot! I found every landmark using the coordinates I got off the wikipedia site! How about a little about the other features, you can hook up your iPod, or iPhone via usb and listen to your whole library. Or you can load an SD card and play your library from there. Or pop a DVD in and watch a movie while your waiting for your significant other at the store. There are so many other things it can do, connect a backup camera and eliminate that blind spot behind you. I love the detachable front panel, and the nice padded case to put it in when you want to wander off with it in your pack and not leave it for thieves. If you have an iPad you can connect that to this system too through the video input. It also has a built in Equalizer with many presets or you can create your own presets too. And what about the Total Traffic HD network? Since JVC released the new firmware the traffic information is now updated via the iHeart Radio Network. This is awesome, so now even when your in an area with sparse or no Traffic Network Coverage you can get all the information down to your system in just minutes. To say this system rocks is an understatement! Buy it you won’t be sorry!
I forgot to mention that it works very well as a bluetooth communications device, I synced my iPhone to it and can make and receive calls through the unit into the audio system. You can dial from on-screen or from your device.

|Excellent Purchase,
For anyone thinking of purchasing this HD navigation system. I have two words for you. Get it! So far, I believe JVC is the only manufacturer that has produced a dual din car radio with a detachable face place. How cool is that? You won’t have to worry about it getting stolen. Although I upgraded my entire audio system, the sound quality is ten times better than the factory radio that it replaced. As a lover of sweet reggae music, I’ve got to have some bass and this thing rocks–with excellent highs, mids and lows. It plays my music from several forms of media devices–CDs, DVDs, and any MP3 player using a male to male headphone jack from the MP3 player to the front female interface port. There is also a second interface in the rear that can facilitate a second auxillary device. It also uses an SD card. Caution with the SD cards! Invest in a good quality SD card as inferior quality cards can damage the device and lose your files. Another really cool feature is the USB port on the front interface panel which powers my Zune MP3 player while I’m on long road trips.
Word to the wise: If you are able to invest in this unit, spend the extra money to have it installed by a qualified audio systems installer who knows what they are doing. This thing produces some really great sound quality; you don’t want to hamper that process by doing a cheap backyard install. You’ll be cheating yourself of this system’s beauty. And just wait until you play a really great movie like “300″ on this thing. The sound is awesome! Enjoy! KW-NT50HDT Automobile Audio/Video GPS Navigation System

|What you see is what you get,
I have had my JVC unit for one month now. I bought it and had it professionally installed to replace the factory radio in my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe because I wanted HD radio instead of paying for satelite radio and I wanted an in dash reliable navigation capability. I have had 2 Garmin portable navigation devices with updated maps and traffic information. Frankly I think JVC has produced an over priced over hyped product with poor navigation. First of all the HD radio works fine. I live in the DC metro area and there is sufficient programming which the receiver receives well. I didn’t purchase this unit to watch DVDs so no comment on that. The navigation leaves a lot to be desired. Yes the display is great, nice 6 inch, clear etc. The mapping is good as far as it goes, but the software is set up to tell you – you are at your destination in the vicinity of the destination. You may still be a couple of hundred feet away and this can be very confusing when you are in unfamiliar areas. The Total Traffic implementation is also poor. Garmin’s traffic service wasn’t perfect but at least it advised you on traffic tie ups and then made route adjustments. I have found Total Traffic to have far less data in the DC area so consequently, it is not very useful except for major traffic incidents. There are no free map updates with this unit even for the first year. An update from Navitek when available will cost at least $100. I updated my Garmin portables quarterly so this is really dissapointing. For example my “new” unit does not display a new intercounty interstate connection which has been under construction for the last three years in suburban MD. Another poor implementation is the “hands free” phone capability. It’s not really hands free since it is not voice activated and requires you to manually enter a number via the phone menu which is a BIG distraction while driving. JVC could have used voice recognition software. This also results in poor coordination with steering wheel controls since my Hyundai was set up for hands free voice recognition. Again I believe this unit is poorly designed with inadequate implementation of current technology. Save your money!
